This is a single picture documenting the change that happened between 2007 and 2020 as documented from the almost identical observation point.

The place is the small village of Western-Bödefeld in Northern Germany.

The dominant change is the hurricane induced damage by KYRILL in 2006 which deforested entire hilltops in Germany. It is interesting to note how slow the trees re-grow in size, the new forest is plainly visible.

Of course, man-made changes like reforestation but also house-building and renovation can be observed.

Technological change is also visible, the 2007 picture was taken by a 7 Mpx Sony DSC-P150, the 2020 by a Sony A6600 with 24 Mpx and 1655 lens attached. In comparison, the amount of detail available with this camera is amazing! Unfortunately, blogger downresolutions the picture. Dieses Bild illustriert den Wandel der zwischen 2007 und 2020 stattgefunden hat aus der Sicht eines fast identischen Beobachtungsplatzes.

Die Stelle ist oberhalb des kleinen Dorfes Western-Bödefeld in Norddeutschland.

Die hauptsächliche Veränderung ist die durch den Wirbelsturm KYRILL verursachte Zerstörung der ganze Bergkuppen entwaldet hat. Interessant ist auch wie langsam der Baumbestand wieder nachwächst, die wiederaufgeforsteten Bereiche sind deutlich erkennbar.

Natürlich sind auch Veränderungen durch Menschenhand sichtbar wie Wiederaufforstung, aber auch Hausbau und -renovierung.

Auch technologischer Wandel ist sichtbar: Das Bild von 2007 wurde mit einer 7 Mpx Sony DSC-P150 gemacht, das in 2020 mit einer 24 Mpx Sony A6600 mit einem 1655-Objektiv. Im Vergleich ist die Menge an sichtbaren Details einfach erstaunlich! Berlin revisited - 1988 2007 2014

Berlin is the one city where I feel you wade in history. Maybe its the fact that it is an almost broke city so that old things keep getting used instead of replaced. Or it is the echos of the past in the WWII bullet holes in historic buildings. Still, there is so much green that at times it almost feels like a rural area. My personal history has kept being mixed with this city, so seen the changes and the non-changes also makes me reflect on what happened in all those years.

Berlin ist die eine Stadt in der ich das Gefühl habe durch Geschichte zu waten. Vielleicht ist es die Tatsache, dass in dieser fast Pleite-Stadt alte Dinge weiterverwendet werden, anstatt ersetzt zu werden. Oder es sind die Echos aus der Vergangenheit in the Weltkriegs-Einschusslöchern in historischen Gebäuden. Dabei hat es soviel Grün, dass es sich manchmal wie in einer dörflichen Gegend anfühlt. Meine eigene Geschichte hat immer wieder Schnittpunkte mit dieser Stadt gehabt, so dass die Veränderungen, und das Ausbleiben solcher mich darüber nachdenken lässt, was in all diesen vergangenen Jahren geschehen ist.
