Against the tide / Gegen den Trend

Now I know that the most likely (and boring) explanation is that the difference in chimney height meant that the smoke exited into a calmer air zone, in contrast to the lower ones where a visible draft drags the smoke to the right.
But I kind of prefer that this chimney decided not to follow the herd :-).

Natürlich weiss ich dass die wahrscheinlichste (und langweiligste) Erklärung ist, dass der etwas höhere Schornstein bewirkt, dass der Rauch in einer ruhigeren Luftschicht austritt. Im Gegensatz zu den niedrigeren bei denen ein sichtbarer Wind den Rauch nach rechts drückt.
Aber ich finde es netter zu denken, dass der Schornstein sich von der Gruppe abgesetzt hat und sein eigenes Ding machen will :-)

Lake Lugano / Luganer See

It's not the Titanic...

The Lake Lugano has a certain aura: The surrounding mountains are mostly coated with a mixture of rain forest and mediterrean dense forest straight down to the waterline. Due to the steep shore, not much traffic is there and tranquility rules.

Unless you are a mountain goat, mobility is limited. Unless of course you take to the Lake itself, a boat ride opens up exploration.

Der Luganer See hat eine bestimmte Aura: Die umgebenden berge sind zumeist dicht bewachsen mit einer Mischung aus Regenwald und dem dichten Buschwald des Mittelmeers bis hinunter zum Wasser. Wegen des steilen Ufers ist nicht allzu viel Verkehr und es herrscht eine Ruhe vor.

Solange man keine Bergziege ist, ist die Beweglichkeit eingeschränkt.  Es sei denn man bewegt  sich auf dem See selbst, eine Bootsfahrt lässt das Entdeckerherz höher schlagen.
